Enviros performed a scope of work to assist EWE DE (primary client) in the acquistion of geophysical site survey services as part of three major offshore windfarm developments located in North Sea, German sector. These windfarms comprised Riffgat, Borwin and Helwin developments, each located in southern North Sea region. Enviros provided the multirole vessel MV Poseidon to complete the full scope of work at each windfarm site. The purpose of the site survey works was to acquire seabed bathymetry and seabed data to allow the delineation of shallow lithology features. Enviros understood the survey scope of work performed at Riffgat, Borwin and Helwin is to enable the assessment of installation risks for proposed seabed hardware and to reduce future design installation risks through the development of detailed soil ground models.
The geophysical scope of work comprised acquistion of high quality data utilising techniques comprising side scan sonar, sub-bottom profiler (hull mounted Pinger), sub-bottom profiler (Sparker) and solid digital stream systems. Enviros provided the technical capability to acquire high-resolution seismic profiles of the ‘shallow’ sub-bottom strata.
